Attributes Topic

While the base set of system attributes required to identify an object instance is displayed at the top of the Content pane, additional attributes are usually required to support specific business processes related to the object to assist in describing or controlling the object.

Each object class is assigned one or more attributes that pertain to this object type that only appears when that particular class is assigned to the object. These attributes are not immediately displayed upon the creation of the object. Once the object instance has been created, the Attributes topic may display related attributes for the object class, if defined, or allow attributes to be manually selected by displaying all possible object attributes using the Show All link.

Certain attributes may have been defined by your system administrator as permission controlled. This lets the user creating an object assign View, Modify, and Delete privileges to those who should have permission to view this particular attribute and its contents. If the attribute is assigned security and a user is not given security privileges, the attribute will not appear on that user’s screen when the Attributes topic is opened.

Note: Be sure to define the object attributes and their properties beforehand in the System Admin tab, under Information Modeling > Classes & Attributes.
